The sand becomes a sanctuary for complete surrender. Three young women lie sprawled on their towels in various states of blissful abandonment while their companion sits upright, gazing contemplatively toward the sea. The gentle wash of ocean edges the top of the frame, its peaceful rhythm the only movement in this tableau of perfect stillness.
Viewed from just above the reclining figures, the composition captures the meditative trance of sun-soaked relaxation. Purposeful blocks of colour illuminate the sand around the women, creating a dreamlike quality that mirrors the floating sensation of deep rest under warm sun. The palette of soft fawn and creams flows through jaune accents, while muted aqua and teal remind us of the ocean's gentle presence—close enough to cool the air but distant enough to preserve the hypnotic spell of lazy Sunday torpor.

"A Day at the Beach" presents a series of paintings that chronicle the shifting colours, moods, and activities that define different moments of a beach day. From the soft anticipation of dawn to the vibrant energy of midday, each painting captures a specific time and feeling—the colours and atmosphere of 6:37am will be vastly different from those at 11:42am or 2:42pm. This exhibition celebrates the full spectrum of experiences that the beach offers, honouring both the quiet contemplative moments and the joyful bursts of activity that make each visit unique.
