9:12am—the perfect time for stolen morning hours at the beach. Two friends wade into the cool sea, leaving schedules behind. Beneath the surface, they move in their own choreography, suspended between shimmer and sandy darkness.
The artist divides the composition into three horizontal planes, the figures echo the familiar while the background dissolves into gestural brushwork, and intricate patterns capture the water's kinetic energy. The palette of sage, teal, smoked pearl, and aqua creates atmospheric depth, punctuated by Norwegian orange. This contrast between realistic figuration and expressive abstraction evokes the tension between memory and present moment.

"A Day at the Beach" presents a series of paintings that chronicle the shifting colours, moods, and activities that define different moments of a beach day. From the soft anticipation of dawn to the vibrant energy of midday, each painting captures a specific time and feeling—the colours and atmosphere of 6:37am will be vastly different from those at 11:42am or 2:42pm. This exhibition celebrates the full spectrum of experiences that the beach offers, honouring both the quiet contemplative moments and the joyful bursts of activity that make each visit unique.
