The afternoon sun transforms the rock shelf into a natural diving platform where solitary swimmers claim their space in the deeper waters while two girls paddle in gentle companionship. On the shelf itself, two figures pause at the edge, gathering courage for their leap, while further along a father carefully lowers himself into the water as his two boys and their friend watch with anticipation.
The aerial perspective creates strong structural balance through three distinct zones: the solid rock shelf above, a strip of deep teal water in the middle, transitioning to opal and aqua below. Throughout the water, thick purposeful brush strokes provide texture and movement, while the opal, teal, and aqua create smooth transitions that capture both the ocean's rich depths and the bright afternoon glare dancing across its surface.

"A Day at the Beach" presents a series of paintings that chronicle the shifting colours, moods, and activities that define different moments of a beach day. From the soft anticipation of dawn to the vibrant energy of midday, each painting captures a specific time and feeling—the colours and atmosphere of 6:37am will be vastly different from those at 11:42am or 2:42pm. This exhibition celebrates the full spectrum of experiences that the beach offers, honouring both the quiet contemplative moments and the joyful bursts of activity that make each visit unique.
