Dawn's first light brings possibility and peace in equal measure. Two young women perch on the clifftop in their swimsuits—one sits with legs dangling over the edge while her companion stands casually, pointing toward something in the horizon. Their relaxed poses speak to the unhurried magic of early morning, when the day stretches ahead full of potential.

Esplin captures this liminal moment through a palette of dusty rose sky melting into French blue sea. The cliff edge becomes a threshold between earth and water, dream and waking, with the figures positioned as witnesses to the day's unfolding promise.

  • "A Day at the Beach" presents a series of paintings that chronicle the shifting colours, moods, and activities that define different moments of a beach day. From the soft anticipation of dawn to the vibrant energy of midday, each painting captures a specific time and feeling—the colours and atmosphere of 6:37am will be vastly different from those at 11:42am or 2:42pm. This exhibition celebrates the full spectrum of experiences that the beach offers, honouring both the quiet contemplative moments and the joyful bursts of activity that make each visit unique.
